MEETFACTORY, o. p. s.

MeetFactory was founded in 2001 by David Černý with a mission to involve Prague in international cooperation in the field of contemporary art in Europe and the world. MeetFactory initiates the cultural dialogue expected from our country.

The purpose of the company is to support the development of contemporary art and culture with stress on making fine art available to the public. Provided beneficial services always follow this specific purpose.

One of the many painful consequences of the 2002 floods in respect to MeetFactory, o. p. s. was a necessary farewell to the picturesque factory building in Holešovice, where it first started operating. MeetFactory began its operation in its current unique building in Smíchov at the end of 2007. The basic goal of the project is to develop and operate an art and cultural centre blending genres and creative groups.

The essence of the project and its originality is an interdisciplinary complex of dramaturgic series based on the international residency program. In MeetFactory fine arts, theatre, film, music and educational programs closely meet. The Program focuses on the artists who are given support, background and presentation of their works. The general concept is initiated and approved by the MeetFactory administrative council: David Černý (council head and sculptor by profession), David Koller (musician), Alice Nellis (film and theatre director). The Auditorium of public productions consists mainly of students and youngsters oriented to culture beyond the limits of Prague or the Czech Republic, hence the strategy of free or minimum entry.

MeetFactory is financed by its own returns, by a grant of the capital city of Prague, subsidy of the Ministry of Culture CR, a partnership with foreign cultural institutions, public collections and sponsored gifts. Last but not least, MeetFactory also successfully develops due to the undying spirit and motivation of its team by its innovation and hard work.

The MeetFactory industrial building is located between the highway and eight-rail track on the Southern border of the Smíchov district.
