The turtle moves! It spins around its axis like it never did. If we tried to explain and justify folk sayings, expand their meanings beyond the boundaries of logic and significance, what would be left in this vortex of simple truths and obvious repetitions? Once we reach our destination it moves further and further and we are lost for words being once again surprised that there is the same cold on both of the poles.

Having said that I guess being surprised is the most valuable feeling in life, no? At least it saves us from a phony impression of certainty and misleading expectations we have toward our existence. How Giorgio Agamben would put it, the entire mechanism of being is based on the duality of sacrum and profanum. The valuable and hallowed sacrum faces secular profanum within the process of profanation (desecration). We could ask ourselves what kind of matters we're going to make profane and what will the outcome of desecration of symbols and values be. Or instead of trying to find precise answers to these questions  (if Agamben couldn't find them why should we?) we shall let ourselves stay surprised. Be taken aback like the first finders of Altamira wall drawings.

I think that is how Adela would like us to perceive her piece - as a contemporary Altamira where drawings are combined with new media. Adela is combining a conceptual drive with a very traditional technique of hand drawing – the outcome turns to be a mixture of plots that create a huge pandemonium of symbols. Over it we can pose some questions: what is the meaning of commonness nowadays and do symbols respond to the reality we live in? And what about the society, is it still taking part in the process of these symbols construction?  Don't push yourselves to respond to those. The bottom line Adela has established is we won't ever get quite close to the answer. Circulating around the core but never approaching it.

Our linear expectations toward reality cause the same nagging question. The kind one can't really articulate. Getting to the core of everything we just keep on spinning around our own axis. Isn't it ludicrous? The wheel of Fortune. The story that repeats itself.
