BoLs/sLoB (Esoteric Garden release party) + Toyota Vangelis

With his debut album Esoteric Garden, released on the genre-bending Berlin-based imprint Soul Feeder, BoLs/sLoB affirms his spot at the forefront of the contemporary European avant-pop scene. His first record is a retrospective walk through a shape-shifting sonic space, in which each track directly links to one of the artist's memories. Esoteric Garden's release party is set for October 5th at Smíchov's MeetFactory.

From the bouncy happy/sad trap vibes of On, to the intoxicatingly catchy melody of the neo-romantic Portal Serenade, to the abrasive sound design of the post-club suite Eclipse, Esoteric Garden is a juxtaposed yet coherent listening experience, where all the individual tracks work both as auto-conclusive sonic narrations and as chapters in a bigger, deeply entwined tale.

The guest of the night is none other than Toyota Vangelis who uses his uniquely autotuned voice and seamless merging of the electronic and (simulated) acoustic sounds to dismantle the binaries of the human and the machine.

hile always inventing new ways to interact with electronic music as lead designer at the synthesizer company Bastl Instruments, he still manages to find elaborate ways to sculpt the Czech language into his rhythmic and melodic structures. His songs revolve around love metaphors while in fact they sneak intimacy into topics such as big data, climate crisis or alienation.
