North American singer–songwriter and multi–instrumentalist Josephine Foster breathes life into archaic musical forms, playing games with our conceptions of time and space throughout her expansive folk–soaked discography.

On nearly twenty albums recorded over the past two decades, Foster has built a singular, oneiric musical universe ruled by her warbling mezzo–soprano, enveloped in hypnotic tones of guitar, piano, organ or harp. Listening to her latest LP Domestic Sphere, produced by Daniel Blumberg, is a truly transcendent experience for the body and the soul. Freak–folk par excellence, the haunted atmosphere of which is only magnified by obscured field recordings.
