Vivid sonic storytelling, commanding sound's physicality. The acclaimed Australian-born, Iceland-based composer, sound designer and experimentalist Ben Frost unveils his first solo studio music in six years. Turning the Prism is a throbbing, dark ambient piece encapsulating Frost's distinctive signature, defined by monolithic interplays of tension, contrasts, texture, fragility, and life force, showcasing his dynamic evolution in the realms of sound and artistry.
Engaging in a fresh live collaboration with Greg Kubacki from the US-based metalcore formation Car Bomb and the renowned audiovisual artist Tarik Barri, Frost persists in broadening his intense exploration of sonic and cinematic experimentalism. The show will be presented at Berlin's CTM, The Hague's Rewire and also, amongst others, Prague's MeetFactory.
Frost's new solo work follows on from a recent string of soundtracks and collaborative projects, including Broken Spectre, the sonic accompaniment to Richard Mosse's critically-acclaimed eponymous exhibition documenting the environmental breakdown of the Amazon rainforest. Having worked with artists like Brian Eno, Tim Hecker, Swans and Daníel Bjarnason, Frost's extensive portfolio boasts five studio albums and extends into installations, dynamic live performances, and emotive scores tailored for dance and theater.
After last year's sold out show of Tim Heckers's latest album No Highs, Lunchmeat and MeetFactory team up once again to bring another visionary, immersive musical experience in a one-of-kind AV show.
