The experimental solo outlet for Camae Ayewa: songwriter, composer, vocalist, poet, and educator, has been making waves in the Philadelphian underground and far beyond over the past decade. Visceral blend of hardcore electronics combined with intense poetry, free jazz instrumentation and frantic gritty beats.

First making an impact with 2016's Fetish Bones, her work grew more experimental and politically outspoken with each new chapter. This year’s Jazz Codes is a densely layered course through jazz, blues, soul, hip-hop, and other Black classical traditions, also illuminating the principles of Camae’s multidisciplinary collaborative practice Black Quantum Futurism, a theoretical framework for perceiving and adjusting reality through art, writing, music, and performance, informed by historical Black ontologies. The album has been greatly received amongst critics, but even more importantly within the communities it speaks to and about.

“Jazz Codes is an album about love: love for art, love for artists, love for oneself, love for one’s community.” – Stereogum

Host:
Haru
Solo project of producer Kryštof Kříček (Please The Trees, fyield), under which he released his debut album Test Pressing last year. Haru combines post-club broken beats with emotive vocals, in which he leans on the problems of his generation.
