Comeback Kid defy the trend of sad heavy music! Their latest offering, Chosen Hell, kicks off with frantic drums, a catchy riff, and a blistering scream. They will present their title single and upcoming album live on January 27, 2027, at Prague's MeetFactory. Joining them as support are Haywire, Whispers, and Speedway.
Formed in 2000 in Winnipeg, Canada, by members of Figure Four, melodic hardcore has been their signature genre from the very start. However, they have never hesitated to fuse it with elements of punk rock or modern hardcore.
Comeback Kid have just announced their eighth and latest LP, Chosen Hell, on which the band weaves together influences of blazing modern metal, relentless raw punk, and vulnerable melodicism, once again raising the bar for their longstanding sound. “We’ve always been a band that understands and embraces our identity, but it’s also important to us that we keep pushing our boundaries. In the past, there may have been ideas we stifled because we thought they were outside the core of what Comeback Kid should be, but we felt comfortable exploring those things this time around,” says frontman Andrew Neufeld about their creative process.
The quintet – Andrew Neufeld (vocals), Jeremy Hiebert (guitar), Stu Ross (guitar), Chase Brenneman (bass), and Terrance Pettitt (drums) – is joined on the album by guest vocalists including Courtney LaPlante of Spiritbox on the track “Shedding Season” and Brendan Garrone of Incendiary on “Yesterday’s Gone.” Meanwhile, “Heartland Elegy” stands out as the most personal and purely punk offering on the record, dedicated to former bassist Matt Keil, who passed away in 2025 following a battle with ALS.
