Sean Nicholas Savage + Vojtik

Prolific avant–garde songwriter and lush indie balladeer Sean Nicholas Savage came up as part of a thriving Montreal underground scene, exploring warped takes on new romantic pop with a sizable series of releases. The cult songwriter, signed to Arbutus records (alongside Grimes, TOPS or Majical Cloudz), is known for a tremendous output of heartbreaking songs embracing a uniquely naive, yet poetic expression. Each new record of his is an adventure into sensitivity and nuance.

His latest LP Shine, produced by Mac DeMarco, is a record about recapturing the will to live after a period of sadness and stagnancy, and the return to positivity and hope wrapped up in music that adds a sense of rhythmic guitar-based folk intimacy to Savage’s hallmark ebullient avant–pop. Sean Nicholas Savage returns to MeetFactory on Friday, May 17, supported by local star Vojtik, whose first single Detvianský sen became a viral outsider anthem of the last summer, telling the story of what it's like to grow up as a queer teenager in a small Slovak town.
