What brings these artists of three different nationalities together to MeetFactory is their notion of ‘otherness’ hidden in our reality and our perception of the world. At first glance it may seem that the Norwegian artist Lilleeng’s style stems mainly from pop-like drawing in the style of Scott Pilgrim. However, below the surface one can see that his themes are much deeper and include motifs such as wolves, masks, and strange existences beyond reality. The German artist Jüliger also explores forests, nature, and places that exude a poetic atmosphere. The comics as well as large scale drawings by the Czech artist Pavel Trnka use charcoal layers and grey shadows somewhat as in Enki Bilal's work, in order to show the irrationality hidden behind modern civilization and it's main idol, the city. The artists urge viewers to dive beneath the surface and open their eyes!
