One core emotion permeates the whole output of Dutch post-punk trio The Homesick. Concentrated happiness.
From the escapist DIY indie-pop of their debut Youth Hunt to the brisk off-beat rhythms of the breakthrough album The Big Exercise (released on Sub Pop Records) to The Homesick's third eponymous record, which blends post-punk, melodic whimsical pop and a dash of psychedelia with influences from dub and new beat, the trio from Dokkum have deservedly come to the forefront of the Dutch underground over the past couple of years.
They will present their third album live at the MeetFactory on Thursday 12 October. Joining them on stage as a guest is Josefína Trantinová, who under the pseudonym Fæ Bestia creates music full of intoxicating, sombre melodies, tribal beats and ethereal vocals. She sees her debut album Alegorie as a bridge between dream and reality, each of the eight songs dedicated to a particular being, whether mythical, fictional or cult. Through them, the listener is given a glimpse into other worlds, emotions, or bodily forms.
