Influential Cabinet

Influential Cabinet is the result of a six week residency of the French curator Fabienne Bideaud in Prague, Czech Republic. Her protocol was to ask the people she met from the cultural art scene - artists, critics, curators, gallerists – to give her an element that has largely influenced their practice. It could be a book, a text, an image, a film, a video, etc. In this collecting system, she has caught some historical, political, geographical, sociological and personal contexts. Far from giving a scientific point of view, it brings together three layers of generations coming from all artistic sectors. Each person plays the same role in this Influential Cabinet, no boundaries regarding their activities, everyone is seen on the same level.

This project is an incomplete proposal, exhibit in a particular way about the art network of Prague and Czech Republic. The elements that fulfill the studio belong to each participant, that have influenced their practice or reflection in a deep and sensitive manner.The next step would be to exhibit their personal production, in the same idea of putting everyone on the same exhibiting level. Her intention would be to open up the project to the French art scene and cross over the ideas.

This residency was initiated by the French Institute of Prague with the French Institute of Paris, in partnership with MeetFactory Artists-in-Residence program.
