Michele Gabriele: Walking Our Distance

Ke Sklárně 3213/15, Praha MeetFactory

1. 12. - 28. 1. 2024

The exhibition Walking Our Distance by Italian artist Michele Gabriele presents his most recent work, in which he continues his storyline using mythologized references to the poignantly sad reality of a pre-apocalyptic world strikingly close to the one we live in. The Prague exhibition follows Gabriele's I see you repeating this, I warn you in the sweetest way exhibition at the EACC gallery in Valencia, Spain. The concept of both exhibitions is based on the texts of poems, where each verse reveals a part of a connected and visualized story. Gabriele's hyper-realistic sculptures and objects address issues of the contemporary post-digital world, creating forms that speak to us from the uncertain reality of the future, but at the same time, these works retain the irony and pop culture retro aesthetic of Hollywood film props from the 1980s.
