Eszter Őze

Eszter Őze is a freelance curator, critic and Phd researcher based in Budapest.

She graduated from the Department of Art History and Aesthetics (ELTE) and from the Department for Art Theory and Curatorial Studies (HUFA). Currently, she is enrolled in the faculty’s Ph.D. program in Philosophy: Film, Media and Cultural Theory. Her research field is museology between the interwar period and socially engaged art in the CEE region. In her Ph.D. research she looks to analyse The Hygiene Museums in Europe, particularly the The Hungarian Social Museum. She is focusing the connection of a museum’s program and the state’s mass production of hygiene. In her earlier projects and theoretical works she investigates the socio-economic aspects of space, public and community. She worked for the Kassák Museum as a curator (2014-2017), and also curated exhibitions for example in the IGLOO Gallery, Jihlava (2017), Studio Gallery, Budapest (2014), OFF-Biennale Budapest (2014) and Labor Gallery, Budapest (2016).

From 2017 she is lead member of The Studio of Young Artists’ Association (SYAA).
