Juliane Foronda CA / UK

Juliane Foronda is a Filipina-Canadian artist, organiser and writer whose work is invested in the tradition of preservation from a feminist perspective. Predominantly through sculpture, object, intervention and text, her practice considers the structures, labour, care and intimacy associated with built environments. Juliane is currently based in Glasgow, Scotland where she has been undertaking independent research on feminist hospitality at Glasgow Women’s Library.

Work and education:  
She has held programming and curatorial positions internationally at galleries, artist-run spaces and residencies such as MKG127, G Gallery (both Tkaronto (Toronto), CA), Hospitalfield (Arbroath, UK), Joya: arte + ecología (Vélez Blanco, ES), and she was the co-founder and director of RÝMD (Reykjavík, IS) from 2017 to 2018. She also regularly writes for (Reykjavík, IS). Juliane received her MA in Fine Arts from Listaháskóli Íslands (Iceland University of the Arts), and holds a BA in Studio Art from the University of Guelph in Canada.
