Naomi Fitzsimmons

„Naomi Fitzsimmons graduated from Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2013.  She was awarded the prestigious 2013/2014 Acme/Chelsea studio award, which entailed a yearlong residency culminating in a solo show at Bearspace Gallery (2014). Her previous education includes a year’s study at Universitat der Kunste, Berlin (2012) and a foundation diploma from Central Saint Martins (2009). She is currently enrolled on a MA programme at The Slade (London). She has exhibited widely throughout the UK including Picture This Gallery (Bristol) and at Camden Arts Centre (London), as well as internationally in Berlin, Vienna and The Hague.   

Working mainly in the field of performance, her practice explores the relationship between artist, audience and performer. Looking mostly at institutional critique she often regards the private view as a metaphorical stage, exploring the connection between a staged and real event and embracing the theatricality of the quotidian.
