Synapse Again

Continuation of the project Synapse (2015 - 2016) and several years of cooperation between Insomnia festival in Tromso, northern Norway, and MeetFactory, an international cultural center in Prague. Both organizations are preparing the following activites for the upcoming two years:

• artistic residency and collaboration between Norwegian and Czech artists, who will create two intedisciplinary site-specific works in public spaces, one in Tromso and the other in Prague, commenting on current social issues by exploring the suburbs and their socially excluded inhabitants;
• The Norwegian-Czech curatorial team will cooperate on preparing an inclusive and gender-balanced programme of music, sound and audiovisual artists who will be presented at the Insomnia Festival and two events at MeetFactory in 2022 and 2023;
• Peer-learning programme aimed at professionalizing and expanding the capacities of independent cultural operators in the local art communities in Tromso and Prague;
• Residential programme for young Norwegian and Czech cultural managers who will acquire theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in other countries working on previous activities under the mentoring of experienced professionals

The project aims to draw the attention of the general and professional public to current social issues, such as discrimination on the grounds of racial, gender or social affiliation, but also, for example, climate change and its consequences in the form of artistic means.
