Diaristic songwriting, avid DIY approach in their home studios and beyond, and the same live band link musicians Lenka Zbořilová (pivoňka) and Zdeněk Lichnovský. Yet their music sounds as if it comes from two different worlds, as you can experience for yourself at the fourth outdoor concert of the summer season in MeetFactory’s backyard. The two will be joined by bassist Michal Zlatkovský on Thursday, July 23.

Lenka Zbořilová already appeared on the local music scene with her former project ivy z. Now she’s starting a new chapter as pivoňka, featuring Czech songs written late at night in Prague and Veselí nad Moravou. The project’s debut album, titled co se stalo na obloze nikomu neřeknem, consists of 17 short songs inspired by dreams, uncertainties, cities, and the stories of people around her. “It’s still slowcore, sometimes slower than slow. The album is about good and bad decisions, big cities, and the cities within us.”

Zdeněk Lichnovský loves writing quirky songs and collaborating on them with his friends, both live and in the studio. All of this is made possible with the label Bad Names which has released two of his albums (plus one single). His new release, the album Pustim Mitski a zavřu se doma, pays homage to the raw sound of a home piano, screaming guitars, exaggerated bass riffs, Cyril Kaplan’s wonderfully free-spirited drums and stone cold, truthful vocals of Lenka Zbořilová. Live, the trio condenses everything into a narrative format of dialogue between the voices of Lenka Zbořilová and Zdeněk Lichnovský, accompanied by Michal Zlatkovský on bass guitar.
