The first MeetFactory’s multigenre evening in the new year will offer an opening of the exhibition of last year's laureate of the EXIT Award Jiří Žák – Mother City in the Kostka Gallery. The program will also feature a guided tour through the exhibition Who Is Playing? in the MeetFactory Gallery by curator Jaro Varga. The screening of Markéta Magidová’s work Typos and Stumbles will close the longlasting showcase of contemporary Czech videoart and film in visual arts.  

MOTHER CITY
A video, an essay, a documentary or a fictional narrative called Mother City relates to the specific historical context of colonization of the Brazilian territories by the Bata company. The artist concentrates solely on activities and plans of J. A. Bata in several cities in South America which intervened into the shape of the landscape as well as into the way of life of local population.
 

GUIDED TOUR OF AN EXHIBITION WHO IS PLAYING?
The group exhibition of 9 artist named Who Is Playing? looks at the hidden action of emotions in the world of sports, at the formal and performative aspect of experiencing defeat, at the manipulative handling of tense situations with the aim to stir up “emphasis” in the viewers. “Tears economy” is in the game and it becomes a strong player on the field.
Participating artists: Olaf Breuning (CH), Zuzanna Janin (PL), Pawel Kruk (USA), Annika Larsson (SWE), Jean-Ulrick Désert (Haiti), Shaun Leonardo (USA), Anetta Mona Chişa & Lucia Tkáčová (SK), Assa Kauppi (SWE).

TYPOS AND STUMBLES
The main character in the film by Markéta Magidová is a dancer representing different types of women applying for a job interview, each of them having their own style of speech, outfit and gestures. The stress caused by the tense situation keeps growing and is projected in the dancer’s movements.
