The panel has have selected the following artists for exhibition projects that will complete the exhibiton plan for the Kostka Gallery in 2019:

Magdalena Lazar (PL): Broad Daylight, All Night Long
solo exhibition
curator: Zofia Malysa

Magdalena Lazar studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and the Universität der Künste in Berlin. Her practice is based in an interest in human creativity and desire to move the world forward, as well as a fascination with the “future shock”. Archaeology of the present lies at the centre of her interests, as do mistaken prognoses and utopian visions. Broad Daylight, All Night Long focuses on seemingly impossible phenomena, which nevertheless really took place. Unusual events, scientific experiments reaching into the distant future and attempts to connect the organic with the inorganic are the central themes of the installation, which combines installation with video, photographs and objects.

Marie Lukáčová (CZ): Magic in a Time of Economic Progress
“Calls for allowing men to participate in childcare and housekeeping are all the more emphatic, becoming the moving stone for legislative bodies and marketing strategies. How can a system based on submission and dominance react when three, four, or even more partners take care of a single household, all as part of a single relationship?” asks Marie Lukáčová (born 1991) in the introduction to her project Magic in a Time of Conjuncture. The project arises from an attempt to disrupt the heteronormative perception of the current arrangement. It is mostly geared towards theoretical and empirical research into polyamorous relationships, which are easiest to recognise in families or activist collectives. It is a complex process founded on communication, mutual understanding and care, which serves as a strong but invisible web.

Projects by the following artists were shortlisted and may be presented as substitutes.

  • Nayoung Jeong
  • Matej Fabian
  • Eva Jaroňová
  • Michal Soja a Róža Duda

We are sorry that capacity is so limited and congratulate the selected artists!
