PERFORMING WITH HARDWARE
VACLAV PELOUSEK

Designing balanced live set is an elaborate task. Each musician can handle only specific amount of things during live performance. Balancing this “bandwidth" with other aspects of performance is a common challenge and instruments and tools play major role in the process. Václav Peloušek - hardware designer (Bastl Instruments) and musician (Toyota Vangelis) looks at ways of how musicians can extend themselves with self-designed semi-autonomous musical systems.

14:00 - 15:30
VOICE AND LIVE ELECTRONIC MUSIC PERFORMANCE
LYRA PRAMUK (ARTIST LECTURE)

American singer, composer-producer, and performance artist, Lyra Pramuk's work is far-arcing by necessity, accomplishing a remarkably broad practice with a brevity of movement. She collaborates often with artists such as Holly Herndon, Colin Self, and Donna Huanca. She is committed to empathy and listening as the central pathways to self-actualization and affirmative collective action, using fictive play to summon a kinder future. Lyra Pramuk fuses classical vocalism, pop sensibilities, performance practices and contemporary club culture in what can best be described as futurist folk music. Lyra Pramuk will present her live performance and composition process as it currently unravels. Focusing on personal and historical background, live, improvised singing, sampling, resynthesis, and FX processing, this presentation will posit a model for embodied improvisation between human and computer leading to an ultimately shared and sensual music experience rooted in a folk practice.

15:30 - 17:00

SPATIAL SOUND AND LEARNING TO LISTEN
A SPACE EXOTIC (WORKSHOP)
JOHN CONNELL

Spatial concepts underpin not only our experience of music, they strongly shape our perception of reality from moment to moment. In a listening-based workshop, composer and writer John Connell outlines a personal perspective on spatial theory in sound design, and how blurring the lines between spaces, both real and surreal, can invite new states of awareness in the mind and body of the listener.
